What information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it — including payment data processed through our platform.
GrooveVault ("we," "us," or "our") is a music channel and direct-support platform operated by GrooveVault, 7323 Ernest Ave, The Villages, FL 34762. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we protect it — including payment data processed through our platform.
By creating an account or using GrooveVault, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
Effective date: September 30, 2026
Account information: When you register, we collect your name, email address, and password. Artists additionally provide a display name, bio, genre tags, and links to their external payment services (PayPal, Venmo, Stripe, etc.).
Usage data: We collect information about how you use the platform — channels played, songs favorited, artists followed, and support activity. This data is stored locally on your device using browser localStorage and is not transmitted to our servers in v1 of the platform.
Payment-related data: GrooveVault does not collect, store, or process your payment card numbers, bank account details, or financial account credentials. When you support an artist or purchase a download, you are redirected to the artist's external payment service. Any payment information you enter is governed by that service's privacy policy — not ours.
Device and technical data: We may collect your browser type, device type, operating system, and IP address for security and platform performance purposes.
Communications: If you contact us by email, we retain the content of that communication to respond to you.
We use the information we collect to:
We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not use your data for targeted advertising.
How payments work on GrooveVault: GrooveVault uses Stripe Connect to facilitate direct payments between fans and artists. When a fan supports an artist or purchases a download, the transaction is processed directly between the fan and the artist's connected Stripe account. GrooveVault acts as the platform operator — not the merchant of record — and does not take custody of funds in transit.
What GrooveVault does NOT collect or store:
What Stripe collects on our behalf: When an artist connects their Stripe account to GrooveVault, Stripe collects the artist's identity verification information, bank account details, and tax information directly. This data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy, not ours. GrooveVault only stores the artist's Stripe Account ID — a non-sensitive identifier used to route payments.
When a fan makes a payment: The fan's payment details are entered directly into Stripe's secure checkout — not into GrooveVault's interface. GrooveVault receives a confirmation that a payment was completed (a Stripe webhook event) but never receives the underlying card or bank data.
Artist payment service links: Artists may enter links to external payment services (PayPal.me, Venmo, Ko-fi, etc.) in their GrooveVault profile. These links are displayed to fans. GrooveVault stores these links but is not responsible for the privacy practices of those external services. Fans who use those links are subject to the respective service's privacy policy.
Platform fees: GrooveVault may collect a platform application fee on transactions processed through Stripe Connect. This fee is deducted by Stripe at the time of transaction. GrooveVault does not store payment card data in connection with platform fees.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
With Stripe: When artists connect their Stripe account, we share the artist's GrooveVault account identifier with Stripe to establish the Connect relationship. Payment transaction data is shared with Stripe as necessary to process payments.
With other users — artist profiles: Your artist display name, bio, genre, channel content, listen counts, follower counts, and supporter counts are visible to all GrooveVault users on your public artist profile.
With other users — fan support messages: If you leave a personal message when supporting an artist, that message is delivered to the artist. Messages are automatically deleted after 365 days. Artists cannot share your message publicly without your consent.
With service providers: We may share data with trusted vendors who help us operate the platform (e.g., hosting, email delivery, analytics). These vendors are bound by confidentiality obligations and may not use your data for their own purposes.
For legal compliance: We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or government authority, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and platform.
Business transfers: If GrooveVault is acquired or merges with another company, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you before your data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Retention: We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or compliance purposes. Fan support messages are automatically deleted after 365 days regardless of account status.
Security: We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit and secure storage practices for account credentials. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
Payment security: GrooveVault does not store payment card data on our servers. All payment processing is handled by Stripe, which is PCI DSS Level 1 certified — the highest level of payment security certification available. Stripe's security practices are documented at stripe.com/docs/security.
localStorage: In the current version of GrooveVault (v1), user preferences, channel data, and platform activity are stored in your browser's localStorage. This data lives on your device and is not transmitted to our servers. Clearing your browser data will remove it. We are not responsible for unauthorized access to your device.
